21 Day Challenge: Day 21 "Self-Portrait"

As a caricature artist, I sometimes get the question of whether or not I ever draw myself.  I'll let this post answer that question :)

21 Day Challenge -- you are done!

21 Day Challenge: Day 20 "Live Sketch"

I'm fortunate to have such a lovely subject to pose for me (actually, she didn't know she was posing for this one).

21 Day Challenge: Day 19 "Faces"

21 Day Challenge: Days 18 "Cardboard Doodle"

I'm playing a little catch-up tonight.  Here's four challenges in one day, taking me straight to the end of the 21 Day Challenge.

It feels really good to be in the habit of drawing again. Thanks Von Glitschka and Lynda.com for making this challenge available to us doodlers!

21 Day Challenge: Day 17 "Real vs. Iconic Eye"

Like yesterday's challenge, this one demonstrates realism vs. a more graphic, "logo-like" representation.

21 Day Challenge: Day 16 "Drawing Design"

A busy week it has been!  But I'm back and playing a little catch-up.  Today's challenge is to simplify the form and details of an owl and to create a more iconic version of it.  No gradation, just shapes!

21 Day Challenge: Day 15 "Boxing Dinosaurs"

Limitations can inspire imagination.

Today's challenge is to constrain the proportion of the following dinosaurs within the confines of a square.

Hey, is that brontosaurus using his neck as a scarf?

21 Day Challenge: Day 14 "Improve the Pose"

Today's challenge is to improve the original "boring" pose (as seen on the right) by improving the overall visual clarity through dynamic motion.  I'm going for dynamically awesome here!

21 Day Challenge: Day 12 "Four Concepts Drawn Without Words, Letters or Faces"

Today's exercise required us to draw the concepts "anguish", "curiosity", "hope", and "mystery" without the use of words, letters or faces.  I thought it'd be a fun challenge for myself to try this using a pizza pie as the subject (I got the idea during dinner time).

21 Day Challenge: Day 11 "Draw a Monster"

"Dad, are there humans in the closet?"

21 Day Challenge: Day 10 "Super Doodle"

For this exercise I am to completely fill an 8.5" x 11" paper with doodles!  I didn't spend too much time planning it out, I just drew what came to mind.

Life is busy and sometimes it's an obstacle to find time to do things I enjoy, but the awesome truth is that I "get" to doodle, I "get" to create.  How cool is that!?

What do you enjoy doing the most?

21 Day Challenge: Day 9 "Drawing a Light Source"

I'm seeing spots after this exercise!

Some of these challenges are more so drawing exercises rather than creative expressions.  Bear with me, the next one is called the "Super Doodle" which I think you'll find much more entertaining.
